Made for the walls you gather near
A hearth is where a home keeps its warmth. These are meant to hang where people actually live: over the mudroom bench, beside the kitchen window, in the hallway everyone walks through on the way to dinner.
Every shoe here came off a horse.
My husband, Paeden, is a farrier. He pulls the shoes, I keep the good ones, and they come home to my table. Each one still carries the horse that wore it. A worn-down toe. Nail holes. Rust where the weather got in. I mount raw canvas to the back and paint from there, most of them out in our back field with the light going gold. The colors came from the road. Paeden and I drove through Nevada and Wyoming on our honeymoon, and I keep painting what I saw: dry grass, red rock, long brown miles, and that wide evening sky.
Nothing here is a reproduction. When a piece sells, it’s gone.
